Artist Statement

Karen Adams is a practicing sculptor, painter, illustrator and writer.

Her sculptures are ceramic, mixed media and found objects that depict winged fairies that are archetypes of humanity. Each fairy tells a different visual narrative. Creating these fairies is her way of trying to understand what motivates people to be the way they are.

Drawing has been a part of her life as long as she can remember. Current drawings are usually ink with watercolor, charcoal or chalk pastel. They are figurative and narrative, frequently dramatic and occasionally humorous.

Karen began illustrating several years ago with a commission for story-boarding. She has since started writing about her personal experiences as an artist, and illustrates them.
