Artist Statement
I am a practicing sculptor, painter, illustrator and writer.
My sculptures are ceramic, mixed media and found objects that depict winged fairies that are archetypes of humanity. Each fairy tells a different visual narrative. Creating these fairies is my way of trying to understand what motivates people to be the way they are.
Drawing has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. Current drawings are usually ink with watercolor, charcoal or chalk pastel. They are figurative and narrative, frequently dramatic and occasionally humorous.
I began illustrating several years ago with a commission for story-boarding. I have since started writing about my personal experiences as an artist, and illustrate them.
